The majority of court custody centres are operated by Serco under the Court Security and Custodial Services Contract (‘CSCS Contract’). The inspection included the secure unit at Fiona Stanley Hospital, which is also operated by Serco under the CSCS Contract. In addition, Serco runs prisoner transport services throughout the state but this was not a focus of the inspection.
The Central Law Courts and the District Court Building in Perth are managed by Western Liberty Group and sub-contractor G4S Custodial Services (‘G4S’) under a separate contract (‘the DCB Contract’).
