An announced inspection of Acacia Prison was conducted between 10 and 19 November 2021.

A draft of the report is being prepared.

The inspection report is expected to be tabled in November 2022.

An announced inspection of Roebourne Regional Prison was conducted between 13 and 18 March 2022.

A draft of the report is being prepared.

The inspection report is expected to be tabled in the first quarter of 2023.

 

An announced inspection for Broome Regional Prison was conducted between 15 and 19 May 2022.

A draft of the report is being prepared.

The inspection report is expected to be tabled in the first quarter of 2023.

An announced inspection of Karnet Prison Farm was conducted between 17 and 22 July 2022.

A draft report is being prepared.

The inspection report is expected to be tabled in the first quarter of 2023.

An announced inspection of Wandoo Rehabilitation Prison is scheduled to take place between 6 to 11 November 2022.

The broad inspection themes will include all areas of prison operations and services, with particular regard being given to:

  • The role of Wandoo as WA’s first dedicated alcohol and other drug rehabilitation prison for women and its context within the prison estate.
  • Lessons to be learned from implementing a therapeutic community in a prison setting.
  • Future planning and options for maximising the benefits of Wandoo.
  • How effectively are Wandoo women being supported transitionally for their ongoing rehabilitation and abstinence.

The inspection report is expected to be tabled in the second quarter of 2023.

An announced inspection of Banksia Hill Detention Centre including Unit 18 at Casuarina Prison is scheduled to take place between 6 to 15 February 2023.

The inspection will assess Banksia’s progress since the regular 2020 inspection and the occasional inspection of the ISU in late 2021. We will also assess the operations of the centre’s newly established annexe at Unit 18 in Casuarina Prison. All aspects of current operations and services will be examined. All inspection work will be conducted within the framework of the Inspectorate’s Code of Inspection Standards for Young People in Detention.

The inspection report is expected to be tabled in the third quarter of 2023.
