Eastern Goldfields Regional Prison is located on Wangkathaa land, in South Boulder, Western Australia.

Eastern Goldfields is a minimum– and medium–security prison for men and women. It services the Goldfields district from Wiluna in the north to Esperance on the south coast, and the 13 remote Ngaanyatjarra Aboriginal communities east to the South Australian and Northern Territory borders.

In 2009, the state government allocated funding to construct a new 350 bed Eastern Goldfields prison next to the existing site. The new prison’s size was intended to allow all Goldfields and desert prisoners to be brought back to Kalgoorlie.

The prison was delivered as a Public Private Partnership to maximise efficiency and deliver value for money.

The new Eastern Goldfields Regional Prison became operational in August 2016 and is managed by the Department of Justice.
