The three-yearly inspection Regional Prison (Bunbury) will be occurring in February 2026. Bunbury is the largest regional prison in Western Australia and a mixed classification facility accommodating sentenced and remanded male prisoners.

Bunbury delivers a broad range of services including prison employment, education, therapeutic programs and external work in the community. In 2023, a specialist Alcohol and other Drugs (AOD) service commenced offering participants intensive support while incarcerated, but also upon their release.

This inspection we look forward to learning more about the AOD service and to consider if and how short comings in infrastructure and staffing have impacted service delivery.
