The Office of the Inspector of Custodial Services will be inspecting Eastern Goldfields Regional Prison in May 2026. This will be the ninth inspection of Eastern Goldfields, and the fourth inspection since the new facility opened in 2016 as part of a Public Private Partnership. The prison is a minimum and medium-security prison for men and women in the Goldfields region of Western Australia.

The previous inspection found Eastern Goldfields was an impressive but underutilised facility hindered by ongoing staffing shortages. This inspection will evaluate Eastern Goldfields against 23 of the Office’s inspection standards for adult prisons and will assess the progress made on the previous 11 recommendations.
